Creating a Mindful Workplace

Speaker:  Shelly Tygielski

Providing people with information about what meditation is and isn't.

Giving background on the science behind mindfulness and meditation.

Providing breathing techniques to individuals so they can walk away with tangible practices they can incorporate into their lives.

Understanding the aspect of resilience and focus and how it can be incorporated into work culture.

Then at the end I take people through meditation.

The benefits of corporate mindfulness have gone mainstream with companies as diverse as Google, Aetna, General MilIs and Target. AlI have built extensive programs to foster mindful practices amongst their employees. Studies have found that the benefits of mindfulness can lead to "improvements in innovative thinking, stronger communication skills and more appropriate reactions to stress."

As defined by Dr. John Kabat-Zinn, mindfulness is "paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment and nonjudgmentally." Yuru Corporate Mindfulness Programs provide employees at all levels of the organization with tangible tools they can use each day to find that productive place of presence and calm.

Companies that incorporate mindfulness as a leadership practice consistently see both bottom line benefits and improvements in employee health, job satisfaction and performance.  Recently insurance providers (such as Aetna) have lowered insurance premiums as a result of mindfulness training.

After spending almost 20 years in Corporate America immersed in Fortune 1000 organizations, and the past decade as a high-ranking executive in public and privately-held companies, Shelly has turned to teaching "modern life mindfulness" full-time, with a special emphasis on the business sector.

As someone who has run large departments and companies, and spent a lifetime juggling personal, professional and philanthropic pursuits, Shelly turned to mindfulness to help achieve a work-life balance and to improve her effectiveness, focus, and success in business. Through Yuru Meditation, Shelly offers organizations seminars, workshops, retreats and classes on mindfulness practices.  In 2016, Shelly also launched America Meditates, a grass-roots organization that is bringing practical, 90-minute workshops to cities across America.

Selected by the South Florida Business Journal in 2014 as one of their "40 under 40" honorees and in 2015 as a "Most Influential Business Women" in the region. Her practical and accessible approach ensures participants understand the science behind mindfulness and that they leave with the practical tools needed to continue enjoying the life and business benefits of mindfulness on their own.
