The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is working on eMod, the eCommerce Modernization project, an exciting new project to improve the electronic patent application process by modernizing its filing and viewing systems. During this webinar, we will share additional information about the USPTO eMod Text Pilot Program, which will start in summer 2016. We will discuss the benefits of filing in text, and what that means for the overall patent application filing and management process. 

 Objectives

  • Examine current patent application filing and viewing process
  • Identify how to participate in the eMod Text Pilot Program 
  • Discuss how the findings from the eMod Text Pilot Program will affect the patent application filing and viewing process in the future

CLM Recertification Credit: 1 hour in the subject area of Operations Management (OM)

 CLM App Credit for Functional Specialists: 1 hour in the subject area of Operations Management (OM) towards the additional hours required of some Functional Specialists to fulfill the CLM application.

Huong Esposo is the Program Manager overseeing the eCommerce division within the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She was the PAIR project manager for many years prior to her current position. Ms. Esposo began her career at the USPTO as a Patent Examiner in TC 2600.

 Lisa Tran is the Communications Manager for eCommerce at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She worked in several different business units within Patents, including the technology centers, information management, and business planning.  

 Richard Fernandez is an eMod Project Manager at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He has extensive experience working with the Patent Electronic Business Center and EFS-Web, in addition to knowledge and involvement with PAIR. 

 Elizabeth Brown is an eMod Project Manager at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She has experience working with the eCommerce tools, including EFS-Web and PAIR, in addition to her background in working with web applications and user interfaces.
