The Association of Legal Administrators along with the South Florida Chapter shares a strong commitment for community service.
The South Florida Chapter’s Community Service Committee works year-round to raise funds for local and national organizations. In the past, our Chapter through its members and business partners have coordinated book drives for local school programs, participated in the Dress For Success Program, donated computers and other equipment, assisted other Florida Chapters during Hurricanes disasters, and provided monetary assistance. Our chapter also has supported an annual toy drive to benefit many non-profits in our community such as, Voices for Children, Angel Tree Program through the Salvation Army, Institute for Child and Family Health, and Legal Services of Greater Miami.
Since 2005, the South Florida Chapter increased its involvement in the community by planning ALA's "Community Challenge" events that increased member, business partners, and community member participation. Since then our major annual event has benefited the Susan G. Komen For The Cure Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Affiliate. Our Chapter is consciousness that many members have been affected by breast cancer, making this cause even more meaningful to our hearts. As a result of our efforts, four golf tournaments, two "Cocktails for the Cure" receptions and one “Bowling for the Cure” have been held. Through these efforts our Chapter has raised more than $150,000 to benefit the Susan G. Komen For The Cure Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Affiliate. Seventy-five percent of these funds have supported grants for breast cancer health in our community and the other 25% has been allocated to breast cancer research at the national level.
Our chapter is committed to this community and it will always promote awareness with important causes that are valuable to our members and business partners. Together we have made a difference and we will continue to increase our efforts in how we serve this community.
