Workplace Trends and Solutions impacting post‐pandemic shifts in the Legal Industry
Speaker: Marissa Huber, Director of Workplace Strategy (based in South Florida)
Summary:
The global pandemic has shifted everything, and the Legal sector has been particularly interesting to focus on. As a Workplace Strategy Director, I support a team of Office / Tenant brokers in South Florida to help companies figure out what to do with their space and people, so that they are well informed when making decisions related to subleasing space, renegotiating a lease, or finding new space. I also work on consulting projects nationwide to support companies for change management and workplace projects. Recent clients include National Football League, St. Petersburg College, Pernod Ricard, and Kaseya.
Your industry is unique because it’s generally been a traditional type of workplace, with employees dedicated to seats and working mainly in the office prior to the pandemic. Firms of all types have had to transition into remote working quickly and nimbly during the pandemic, some with little to no training, and hardships with technology and legal considerations for files and security.
For some, this may have made life easier and had benefits. For others, it provided pain points including – how do I manage a team remotely? How do I use technology and bring people together? How do I train a new hire that I’ve never met in person? How do I keep enough space for future growth, but not have so much that we’re not being cost effective? Generational differences and expectations are impacting the workplace as well. We will discuss this as it’s critical for maintaining strong work culture, retaining and attracting talent.
In this discussion, we will have a conversational and engaging presentation with structure so we cover all topics on key trends impacting your industry, considerations, and solutions for firms regardless of size or type, and tactical steps they can make. Attendees should gain the following after event:
- Feel they learned something valuable through ALA event on Workplace Strategy
- Learned tips applicable to their firm and people
- Understanding of where are in comparison to broader trends
- Have a mini‐road map of how they can start implementing a strategy
